Part 1: Vocabulary – Family Members (Familiemedlemmer)

Let’s start by mapping out the family members mentioned in the song.

Key Nouns:

  • En familie: A family
  • Mor / Mamma: Mother / Mom
  • Far / Pappa: Father / Dad
  • Søster: Sister
  • Bror: Brother (Lillebror = Little brother)
  • En katt: A cat

Introduction Phrases:

  • Jeg heter…: My name is…
  • Jeg er … år: I am … years old.
  • Jeg bor i…: I live in…

Part 2: Grammar Focus – My (Min, Mi, Mitt, Mine)

In English, we just say “My”. In Norwegian, the word for “My” changes based on the gender of the word coming after it.

The Rules:

  1. Min + Masculine/Feminine words (en words).
    • Min far (My father)
    • Min mor (My mother)
  2. Mitt + Neuter words (et words).
    • Mitt hus (My house)
    • Mitt lag (My team)
  3. Mine + Plural words (flertall).
    • Mine sko (My shoes)
    • Mine foreldre (My parents)
