How to reinstall OneDrive on a Snapdragon Windows

On a Snapdragon PC you are on Windows on ARM (ARM64). The regular 64-bit (x64) OneDrive installer will not work. You need the ARM64 client.

Uninstalling OneDrive does not delete your files in the cloud. They stay at onedrive.com. After reinstall you sign in again and it resyncs.

1. Download the ARM64 installer (best method)

Use Microsoft’s ARM64 link:

That page is the official “ARM64 version for Windows” download. Run OneDriveSetup.exe, then sign in.

If a generic “Download OneDrive” page gives you the wrong architecture, ignore it and use the ARM64 link above. Snapdragon users who grabbed the 64-bit installer hit exactly this problem.

2. Confirm you are on ARM64

Settings → System → About
Look at System type. It should say something like ARM64-based PC.

3. If the download fails

Try these in order:

Microsoft Store (limited)
Search for OneDrive. The Store app lets you view files. It is not the full backup/sync client. For real File Explorer sync you still want the desktop ARM64 installer.

Built-in leftover installer

1. Open File Explorer.
2. In the address bar paste:

C:\Windows\WinSxS

3. Search that folder for OneDriveSetup.exe (look for a folder name starting with arm64_microsoft-windows-onedrive-setup).
4. Run that OneDriveSetup.exe.

This has worked for people on Surface / Snapdragon devices after a full uninstall.

Command line (if winget is available)

winget install Microsoft.OneDrive

winget install Microsoft.OneDrive

On current packages this should pick the ARM build on Snapdragon hardware.

After install

1. Open OneDrive from Start.
2. Sign in with the same Microsoft / work account.
3. Choose which folders to sync (you will have to re-select if you used selective sync before).
4. Let the first full sync finish.

If setup still refuses the installer, you almost certainly downloaded the x64 build instead of ARM64. Use the linkid=2282608 link again.
